Patricia Phillips, City of Pelican Mayor to Speak at Alaska Rural Energy Conference
City of Pelican Mayor, Patricia Phillips,will speak at the 2014 Alaska Rural Energy Conference. Patricia’s mayoral duties include project administration, budgeting, and community involvement. She also is responsible for management of essential city services including water, sewer, garbage, harbor, health clinic, seafood facility, Pelican Fuels, and the Pelican Utility District (electric utility). Pelican is a RUBA (Rural Utility Business Adviser Program) community. Patricia has also served as a city council and school board member.
Patricia has served on the Southeast Alaska Subsistence Regional Advisory Council for Federal Subsistence management since 1994. She is also on the Southeast Conference board of directors, a regional non-profit organization that advances the collective interests of the people, communities and businesses of Southeast Alaska.
Patricia received a University of Alaska –Fairbanks Bachelor of Arts Rural Development: Tribal and Local Government Administration, and holds certificates from the Alaska Municipal Management Association; and the Village Management Institute at Sheldon Jackson College.
Patricia and James Phillips, own a commercial fishing enterprise - They raised four sons actively engaged in commercial fishing.
