From Natural Gas to Hydrokinetics – Energy Options for Alaska’s Communities: Presentation to House Special Committee on Energy

February 12th, 12pm to 1pm
Juneau, Alaska State Capitol Building, Room 106

Presenters: ACEP Director Gwen Holdmann and Researcher Jeremy Kasper from ACEP’s Alaska Hydrokinetic Energy Research Center will be in Juneau to present a “Lunch and Learn” for Alaska legislators and staffers.

Topic: Access to affordable, reliable energy is key to community sustainability and economic development throughout Alaska. Learn about the feasibility and status of various energy technology options and how the Alaska Center for Energy and Power is working with communities, developers, and manufacturers to demonstrate advances in energy technology that address Alaska’s high cost of power. Hydrokinetic energy – energy extracted directly from moving water in a river or tidal basin - will be highlighted as an example of how research is leading to solutions.
