Daisy Huang Visits NREL in Golden, Colorado
ACEP Research Engineer Daisy Huang has left Fairbanks for a short time to apply her knowledge and abilities in Golden, Colorado, at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). While there she will be working with colleagues from NREL and Colorado State University on the Remote Community Renewable Energy (RCRE) Program.
The RCRE program seeks to define what parameters are most critical to the functionality and reliability of small islanded microgrids, and develop modular solutions that will be standardized, scalable, and applicable to a range of different microgrid situations. Currently the researchers are focusing on systems with a high penetration of renewables with a target of 75%.
Daisy started her work at Golden on July 8th and will continue to work at NREL until July 31st, after which she will return to Fairbanks. She is kept company by her retired Alaskan sled dogs and is grateful that Colorado seems to have much fewer mosquitoes than Fairbanks. She looks forward to the work ahead of her and to sampling the local attractions of Golden, Colorado.
