Flywheel Testing Resumes

After a week and a half break for the Canadian Thanksgiving Holiday, Hatch researchers are back at work again in ACEP’s Energy Technology Laboratory.  They’ll be on location testing their flywheel in ACEP’s simulated microgrid until early November.

While the testing is ongoing, components of ACEP’s Energy Technology Facility (ETF) are active.  This includes the 320 kW Caterpillar generator located adjacent to the ETF.  The electrical output of the generator mimics what can be found in rural communities around Alaska.  This allows Hatch personnel to tailor their tests for grids with smaller loads.
