NATO-CODEL Visits UAF
On Thursday, September 4th UAF played host to a NATO Parliamentary Assembly Delegation made up of members of NATO’s Science and Technology Committee along with members of the US House Armed Services Committee. The visiting delegation met with the UAF administration members as well as UAF department heads of science and technology focused programs.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Arctic security issues. It allowed UAF members a chance to discourse with national-level leaders from sixteen different nations in Europe and from the US Congress on several Arctic issues not necessarily all focused on security.
Topics discussed include Arctic environmental security and scenario planning, Arctic energy issues, emerging technologies in the Arctic, and Arctic fauna and flora.
