Oceana Testing at ETF
As Oceana Energy’s testing of its hydrokinetic turbine at the Tanana River Test Site comes to a close in Nenana, work in Fairbanks at ACEP’s Energy Technology Facility (ETF) is ramping up for further testing of the device. A water tank is being installed to allow Oceana’s turbine to spin in its intended environment (minus its fins) allowing it to stay cool while it is connected to the lab’s simulated microgrid environment. This round of testing will allow researchers to work on the power electronics and control side for grid integration of the device as opposed to the environmental side, which was the primary focus while it was in Nenana.
