Steel Enclosure for Fault Emulator at ETF Arrives

ACEP’s Power Systems Integration (PSI) team recently designed a steel enclosure to perform fault emulations, in order to gather data on the effects of distribution system faults on islanded microgrid equipment. Local Fairbanks businesses constructed the enclosure, which will house the infrastructure to create controlled electrical faults up to 10 kA.

ACEP researchers will assemble the fault emulator over the coming months, which will add unique capabilities to our laboratory.
