BOEM Awards AHERC Wave Energy Converter Impact Assessment Grant

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has awarded funding to the Alaska Hydrokinetic Energy Research Center (AHERC) to complete research necessary to evaluate the economic feasibility of and assessing potential environmental impacts from installation of wave energy converters in state waters off Yakutat, Alaska. 

Through this effort, BOEM seeks to improve understanding of the wave energy development potential in the Gulf of Alaska, which can be extended to the Outer Continental Shelf, to gain insight into information needs associated with the permitting process for wave energy projects offshore of Alaska.
