Truman Scholar to Intern at ACEP
University of Alaska Anchorage economics student Jacob Shercliffe is joining ACEP as a summer intern.
Shercliffe is also one of 62 nationwide recipients of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship. In fact, he is the sole recipient from Alaska, and was selected out of 768 initial nominations.
Shercliffe joins ACEP to work with UAA’s Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER), The Nature Conservancy, and the Municipality of Anchorage to develop a Climate Action Plan (CAP) and Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GGE) Inventory for the Municipality of Anchorage.
During his internship, Shercliffe will review past reports and meet with local officials and community members working on climate change policy in Anchorage to discuss areas including but not limited to waste management, transportation, energy efficiency, energy production, city planning, and outreach and education.
The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation provides up to $30,000 to each Scholar in support of graduate study. Criteria for the honor include exceptional leadership potential, commitment to careers in government or public service and academic achievement.
