Video Showcases Bethel Farm as a Model for Future Remote Alaska Farms

ACEP Biomass Coordinator Amanda Byrd visited a commercial farm in Bethel, Alaska to learn more about the state’s only large-scale farm in a remote community. Byrd was joined by Rob Bensin, Construction Manager for Bering Straits Development Company, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) in Nome.

Bensin is interested in expanding BSNC’s Pilgrim Hot Springs small-scale farm 65 miles from Nome, and he is also exploring the development of a commercial farm in the city of Nome.

During the visit to Meyers Farm in Bethel, Byrd produced a video of the operations which can be viewed here.
