Wood Harvest Interviews in Tanana, Alaska
ACEP team members working with Todd Brinkman, faculty member of the Institute of Arctic Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, traveled to Tanana, Alaska to conduct wood harvest interviews with community members. The interviews are part of an NSF grant project led by Brinkman, examining the human and environmental linkages and changes in wood use due to changes in the environment. This year, the Tanana river was low and didn't bring down the much needed drift wood the community relies on. Fifty-nine households were surveyed and twelve PuMA fuel meters were installed to monitor fuel uses in residential homes.
