Videos Share Stories from a Community’s Perspective
ACEP’s Amanda Byrd is in Kotzebue this week collecting interviews, stories and images about the community’s energy story.
Kotzebue Electric Association was one of the first utilities in Alaska to install wind turbines to offset diesel in its power plant. The association’s pioneering tenacity helped pave the way for wind energy to succeed around the state.
Byrd is collecting energy stories to tell from the community’s perspective. She has produced video stories detailing Kongiganak’s wind turbine powered ceramic heater project, Bethel’s Meyers Organic Farm, Southeast Island School District’s biomass-heated school greenhouses, and the biomass boiler operator-training program.
The video stories were funded in part by a grant from the Office of Naval Research.
Byrd was also recently contracted by agriculture consultant firm AgriLogic to film testimonials from farmers in the Delta Junction area. To see more videos, visit ACEP’s YouTube Channel.
