Roadmapping Session Lays Plans for Alaska Innovation and Commercialization
ACEP’s Gwen Holdmann, George Roe, Marcia Cassino and Amanda Byrd attended sessions last week for an Office of Naval Research-funded effort to assemble key stakeholders and define a road map for the Alaska Regional Collaboration for Technology Innovation and Commercialization.
ARCTIC addresses the priorities of community-focused energy resiliency, new business and job creation, and developing and leveraging local expertise (e.g. microgrids) in Alaska.
ARCTIC was established in 2018 through the ONR to promote commerce and partnerships in the Arctic and Pacific regions through advancements in energy through resiliency research, technology development/deployment and education.
Core organizations participating in ARCTIC include: the University of Alaska (Alaska Center for Energy and Power, UAF; Business Enterprise Institute, UAA; Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship/Office of Intellectual Property Commercialization, UAF); Launch Alaska; and Renewable Energy Alaska Project.
The ARCTIC roadmapping session was faciliated by BMNT.
