Wind Turbine Installed at Prudhoe Bay Met-Station

ACEP’s Jeremy Kasper and Stephanie Jump recently returned from Prudhoe Bay after deploying a wind turbine and retrieving an oceanographic mooring.

During their three-day fieldwork, Kasper and Jump installed a wind turbine to provide year-round power for a meteorological station at the southern end of Foggy Island Bay.

In addition, they retrieved images from cameras monitoring coastal change at the site. A seasonal mooring was retrieved before the winter ice sets as well. Funding for this research is provided by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management as part of the Central Beaufort Sea Wave and Hydrodynamic Modeling Study.
