Baxter Bond Keynote Speaker at Alaska Native Research and Resiliency Event

ACEP’s Baxter Bond and UAF’s Walkie Charles, associate professor of linguistics, were the keynote speakers in the 2nd Annual Alaska Native Collaborative Hub for Research on Resilience event.

The event, held in Nome, brought together people from across Alaska to focus on Alaska Native community strengths, build capacity to do research by and for Alaska Native people, and to identify what youth, communities and institutions are doing to strengthen culture and well-being.

Bond, a staff member at ACEP and an adjunct instructor teaching introductory Yup'ik grammar, is the president of the Fairbanks chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society and the drummer and song leader for the Iñu-Yupiaq Dance Group.
