ACEP Hosted Discussions with Carter Wind Energy
Matt Carter, president and CEO of Carter Wind Energy, and Bob Gersen, an investment manager for Forge Ventures, visited Alaska to better understand the opportunity and market for the company’s next generation wind turbine technology. The technology is self-erecting and designed for utility, distributed, and microgrid power generation applications in remote, environmentally extreme locations. Carter Wind is one of the four energy startups selected to participate in Launch Alaska’s 2018 business accelerator program.
Carter Wind sees Alaska, with many remote communities and industries, as a potential market of future users that would appreciate and benefit from its next-generation wind turbine, which is designed to be easier to ship, deploy and use.
Launch Alaska’s business accelerator program is funded by the Office of Naval Research. ACEP and Launch Alaska are both partners in the ONR’s Alaska Regional Collaboration for Technology Innovation and Commercialization (ARCTIC), a program to build capacity and resiliency in Alaska by strengthening the energy sector.
