Webinar Series — Multi-Community Energy Perspectives
Meera Kohler, president and chief executive officer of the Alaska Village Electric Cooperative, will offer insights about providing power in remote areas during a July 25 webinar.
Kohler will draw upon AVEC’s rich experience base of community engagement, renewable energy resource assessment, system upgrades, fuel transport and storage, operator training, remote location logistics, and electric utility cooperative management.
The webinar will begin at 9 a.m. Click here to register.
With operations in 58 locations throughout rural Alaska, AVEC covers the largest area of any retail electric cooperative in the world. AVEC meets the diverse energy needs of these communities using diesel generators, heat recovery systems, wind turbines and interties. It leads a multi-organization team in the design and deployment of a “grid bridge system” that will maximize leverage of renewable energy resources and significantly reduce reliance on imported diesel, with the potential for replication in locations across the Arctic.
