ACEP Engineers Inspire Summer Camp Students
Erin Whitney and Michelle Wilber recently presented to Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program summer camp middle school students from around Alaska on solar photovoltaic research and careers. The students made a "human solar cell" and also acted out the sun's motion relative to north-, south-, east- and west-facing solar photovoltaic panels.
In addition to describing their own paths to their current professional positions, Whitney and Wilber stressed the importance of math and science preparation, as well as hands-on carpentry, mechanical and electrical skills as ways for students to position themselves for careers in renewable energy.
