AHFC Explores Residential Solar and Increasing Home Appraisals

The Alaska Housing Finance Corp. is educating Alaska residents and solar installers about completing the Residential Green and Energy Efficiency Addendum after the installation of solar photovoltaic arrays or other types of energy-efficiency work. Builders, contractors, homeowners and third-party verifiers are encouraged to complete this form and present it to appraisers, agents, lenders and homeowners. When this form is filled out and presented to home appraisers, it gives them the ability to place a resale value of the solar array or energy-efficiency upgrades on the home.
Last week, ACEP research engineer Chris Pike presented to AHFC Anchorage employees on the latest information on solar in Alaska. He covered the details of grid-tied and battery-based solar PV systems, discussed Regulatory Commission of Alaska regulations and net metering, and covered the feasibility of residential wind energy in Anchorage.
