ACEP, CCHRC Air Source Heat Pump Performance Study

ACEP, the Cold Climate Housing Research Center and the UAF Bristol Bay Campus have been collaborating to study the performance of air source heat pumps in Alaska.

Tom Marsik, who holds a joint position between these three entities, spoke about heat pumps at UAF's Physics Journal Club on Friday, March 1. The first part of his talk covered the underlying physics, as well as technological limitations and the resulting performance of air source heat pumps in cold climates.

In the second part, he performed a live demonstration of the recently released Alaska Mini-Split Heat Pump Calculator, the development of which was led by Alan Mitchell of Analysis North.
