Training Program for Biomass Boiler Operators in Tanacross

Training Program for Biomass Boiler Operators in Tanacross

Last week, a training workshop held in Tanacross, Alaska, gave biomass boiler operators from around the state hands-on experience with operating, maintaining and troubleshooting Garn cordwood boilers and an introduction to greenhouse operation and maintenance.

ACEP’s Amanda Byrd assisted with instruction and filmed the workshop, which is a collaboration between the Alaska Energy Authority, Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Southeast Conference, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, United Stated Department of Agriculture Forestry Service, and ACEP.

This workshop brought biomass boiler operators from Thorne Bay, Sutton, Huslia, Tanacross, and Tazlina. This is the third such workshop held. The previous were in the community of Tanana in 2015 and Coffman Cove in 2018.
