Federal Energy Policy Advisor Visits ACEP, UAF

Michael McEleney, senior policy advisor in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Energy for International Affairs, traveled to Fairbanks this week to attend the Alaska Command Arctic Symposium hosted by the Arctic Domain Awareness Center.

The symposium convened a wide array of leaders and experts to build partnerships in support of U.S. Northern Command's Arctic mission. They hope to better understand challenges in the complicated risk environment that is the new circumpolar North.

While in town, McEleney visited ACEP's offices and Power Systems Integration Lab. He sought to learn more about ACEP's research initiatives and the Arctic Remote Energy Networks Academy. The academy is an international knowledge-sharing program endorsed by the Arctic Council’s Sustainable Development Working Group. ARENA will solicit 2020 applicants soon! Stay tuned for further updates.
