Whitney Promoted to Associate Research Professor
Erin Whitney, manager of the Solar Technologies Program and the Data Collection and Analysis Program at ACEP, was recently promoted from assistant research professor to associate research professor.
During her time at ACEP, Whitney has taken over leadership of the DC&A Program and has developed a dedicated team of engineers and economists who have helped to build and expand the Solar Technologies Program. This program, recognized worldwide, is helping to guide solar development in northern latitudes.
Whitney was invited to join International Energy Agency's Photovoltaic Power Systems Program Task 13 Working Group, which originally intended to meet in Sweden in late March in conjunction with the Arctic Solar Conference to discuss factors and market actors relevant to improving the operation, reliability, and quality of PV components and systems. With the onset of the global coronavirus pandemic, the meeting was switched to a virtual format and Whitney presented from her home in Anchorage. Operational data from PV systems in different climate zones compiled within the project will allow conclusions about liability and yield estimations. The group is also analyzing qualifications and lifetime characteristics of PV components and systems, and identifying technological trends.
ACEP sends a hearty congratulations to Whitney on her achievements!
