Survey Shows Homeowners Want Renewable Energy

Alaskans in three communities want more renewable energy, more solar power and better reliability, according to researchers.

In spring 2020, Jen Schmidt and Barbara Johnson surveyed 114 households from Kongiganak, Igiugig and Cordova as part of the MicroFEWs project. The project explores the links between food, energy and water security in rural Alaska.

The project is a National Science Foundation-funded research collaboration between Alaska Center for Energy and Power and the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
