Senator Murkowski's Assistant Tours ACEP Facilities
ACEP hosted Matthew Hickey, military legislative assistant for Senator Murkowski, Aug. 23, for a tour of the ACEP Energy Technology Facility’s Power Systems Integration Lab and the Hydrokinetic Lab. Hickey joined Senator Murkowski’s office as a legislative assistant and national security advisor earlier this year.
The visit to ACEP was part of a larger information-gathering trip to Alaska to identify challenges, obstacles, and opportunities, specifically for the U.S. Department of Defense, to help DoD more effectively operate in Alaska and the Arctic.
The ACEP team discussed Alaska and Arctic energy issues with highlights from current DoD-funded energy research efforts like the ARCTIC program and Secure and Resilient Power Generation in Cold Region Environments project, focused on energy resilience efforts on the U.S. Army’s Fort Wainwright.
UAF interim vice chancellor for research, Nettie La Belle-Hamer, joined Hickey on his tour of the ETF labs as part of her larger introduction tour of the ACEP facilities and team.
