New Peer-Reviewed Paper Explores Distributed Energy Hosting Capacity

The excerpt below is from a peer-reviewed journal article, Transmission Hosting Capacity of Distributed Energy Resources by ACEP’s Phylicia Cicilio, recently accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy. "Distributed energy resources, such as rooftop solar, small wind turbines, and electric vehicles are transforming the operation and planning of both distribution and transmission grids. Stability impacts from the increasing generation contribution of DERs have been widely recognized in distribution systems and are emerging in transmission systems. Currently in most electrical grids hosting capacity is limited by distribution grid stability and not limited by the transmission grid. However, the stability impacts of DERs on the transmission grid will become more significant and potentially limiting given an increase in DERs such as rooftop solar or electric vehicles."
