CASES Webinar Series Kicks Off — Food, Energy, Water and Renewable Energy

The Community Appropriate Sustainable Energy Security partnership is hosting a webinar series starting on Monday, Dec. 14, at 9 a.m.

UAF MicroFEWs project researchers Erin Whitney and Jennifer Schmidt will present on “Examining the Food-Energy-Water Nexus Through the Lens of Renewable Energy in Remote Alaska Communities.”

MicroFEWs, funded by the National Science Foundation, explores how existing and potential renewable energy projects affect food, energy and water security in rural Alaska.

CASES is an international research initiative involving 15 northern and Indigenous communities and public and private sector project partners from Canada, Alaska, Sweden and Norway. ACEP leads Alaska’s work in the partnership.

Hosted by the University of Saskatchewan, the overarching goal of the CASES initiative is to re-imagine energy security in northern and Indigenous communities. The initiative seeks to co-create and broker the knowledge, understanding and capacity to establish renewable energy systems that support and enhance social and economic values.
