New ACEP Film Highlights Kodiak’s Unique Microgrid

Watch a new video by ACEP’s chief storyteller, Amanda Byrd, on Kodiak Electric Association’s renewable energy resources.

The association’s hydroelectric plant provides approximately 80% of the system’s generation. It works with six wind turbines, two flywheels and a battery energy storage system to supply 33 miles of transmission lines and 350 miles of distribution lines. They serve approximately 6,000 customers, including the state’s first and only U.S. Department of Agriculture-certified goat dairy!
