Solar’s Impact on the Alaska Economy
Solar generates energy for homes and businesses. Did you know that the solar industry also has a positive impact on the Alaska economy?
ACEP’s Solar Technology Program partnered with the Center for Economic Development at the University of Alaska Anchorage to assess the economic impact of the solar industry in Alaska during 2019, the most recent year with complete data.
Data was collected by ACEP that allowed CED to run an impact analysis model. The modeling showed that the solar industry supported over $3 million in income and payroll in 2019 and that for every dollar spent on solar installations, 43 cents of value was generated and circulated through Alaska's economy.
