New Report Shares Costs and Challenges of Renewable Energy Options
While the costs of many renewable energy generation devices are coming down, hidden costs can arise while keeping a small electric grid stable when a lot of renewables are integrated into it. To address this ACEP’s Nathan Green, in partnership with Southeast Conference, has written a brief report to help isolated Alaska communities understand the benefits and challenges of introducing renewable energy into their electrical grids.
This report describes some methods utilities and customers can enact to keep the grid stable as more renewables are added. Read the report at /media/309605/2021_ACEP_IntegratingRenewableEnergyReport.pdf.
