Southeast Conference - Bouncing Back After COVID-19

The Southeast Conference hosted its virtual Mid-Session Summit Feb. 9-11, 2021. This year's theme was “Resiliency in Southeast Alaska: Getting Through to '22,” with a focus on bouncing back from COVID-19, the Haines avalanche and other difficult events.

The conference heard from members of the Alaska State Legislature, as well as Alaska’s congressional delegation. The officials discussed the next steps they will take in their legislative bodies to move the region forward. Dr. Anne Zink, Alaska's state medical advisor, also spoke on the state's vaccine rollout.

ACEP's Michelle Wilber spoke alongside Bob Deering of Alaska Heat Smart, Jason Custer of Alaska Power & Telephone and Tim Leach of Sparkbox LLC on a beneficial electrification panel moderated by Alec Mesdag of Alaska Electric Light &Power. The panel discussed heat pumps, electric vehicles, hydro projects and other energy topics.
