Kotzebue Electric Association Seeks a New, Collaborative Leader

Kotzebue Electric Association seeks a collaborative leader with strong interpersonal skills to become the next general manager, due to an upcoming retirement. The KEA Board of Directors has retained the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association to facilitate the search process.

The cooperative’s recent annual operating revenues totaled $7.1 million, and it has a utility plant of $29 million. Serving over 1,200 members with 25 full-time employees, KEA is a pioneer in the use of wind and solar energy in the Arctic to reduce reliance on imported diesel while supplying affordable electricity. The cooperative regularly hosts visitors from around the country and world interested in learning about these operations. KEA also serves Kotzebue by providing scholarships and supporting local organizations.

KEA truly believes in the cooperative principle of “concern for community.” The board is looking for a leader who understands the importance of being involved in the Kotzebue community and is willing to learn and grow in their career.
