ACEP Expands Summer Internship Program for 2023!

ACEP Expands Summer Internship Program for 2023!

Interns have played an integral role in ACEP’s development and growth, and in return ACEP has provided a launch pad for interns to continue their professional careers. In 2022, ACEP hired 16 interns who worked in almost all aspects of the organization. We’re excited to announce the expansion of the 2023 summer undergraduate internship program.

The ACEP summer internship program is a 10-week summer program based in Fairbanks. It will provide opportunities for interns to gain hands-on research experience and skill development in the energy industry, while being mentored by an ACEP researcher on a specific research project.

New to next year’s program will be the addition of internship projects that are focused on rural development and energy-related storytelling and communications initiatives.

Interns develop a strong cohort amongst themselves and the mentors as they participate in applied research projects, Arctic energy lectures, field trips and professional development throughout the summer. At the end of the program, interns present their research work and their contributions to ACEP’s important work.

Next year’s program is designed for undergraduate and spring 2023 graduating seniors who have an interest in working on an energy research project benefiting Alaska communities. We are looking for students from a variety of disciplines, including electrical or mechanical engineering, computer science, rural development, communications and journalism.

Applications open on Dec. 5, and project summaries will go live that day on the internship website. Students will have the opportunity to specify projects that align with their interests and future career goals.

Interested in joining ACEP as a 2023 summer intern? Complete the interest form to be added to our database, which will put you on a list to receive updates on ACEP’s internship program as they become available.

Please contact Annalise Klein if you have any specific questions about the internships or applications.

ACEP’s summer internship program could not be made possible without the generous support from the Office of Naval Research and the National Science Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates program.
