Alaska’s Microgrid Capacity Featured in SmartGrid Podcast
ACEP’s Peter Asmus also holds the role of executive director of the Alaska Microgrid Group. Recently he was featured on a podcast that is part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Voices of Experience. The initiative supports grid modernization by sharing insights, lessons learned and advice on operating in a rapidly evolving industry.
The podcast, titled “Microgrids Blanket Alaska — Prime U.S. Testbed,” discusses the benefits and history of microgrids in Alaska and across the U.S.
“I see microgrids becoming a bigger and bigger thing as climate change impacts accelerate and the power outage rate keeps going up. People are so dependent on electricity; they’re going to want some form of a microgrid resiliency,” said Asmus.
