About Ashley
Hometown - Ketchikan, Alaska
Major - Linguistics
Hello! My name is Ashley Yoder, and I was born in Tennessee and spent most of my childhood
in Colorado, until my whole family decided to move to Ketchikan, Alaska, in 2018.
I first attended school online through the University of Alaska Southeast pursuing
an education as a medical assistant, but decided I really wanted the experience of
connecting and meeting new people and that UAF was where I needed to go. I talked
about it enough that I convinced my two sisters to come with me! In my first year,
I was able to graduate with an Associate’s in Health Sciences in 2021. Currently,
I am studying Linguistics, and I am really loving the American Sign Language classes
that are offered as part of my study of languages.
My goal is to move on to graduate school, so I can eventually become a speech-language
pathologist. But for now, I am really enjoying the community on UAF’s campus and regularly
attend the many events and clubs offered here at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about UAF (I would love the opportunity
to chat your ear off about it).
