Pre-Nursing Certificate
Half of the requirements for the Associate of Arts in Science (AAS) degree in Nursing are fulfilled by earning a Pre-Nursing Certificate.
Enrollment is open to all students.
Applying for Admission for a Pre-Nursing Certificate may help students qualify for financial aid.
Students who work while attending college are encouraged to earn this certificate prior to applying for the Nursing AAS.
AAS Nursing Degree
Students must apply and be accepted to enter the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program.
Applications are only accepted every other year. The next cohort will start in the Fall 2025 semester. Enrollment is limited to four to six students.
The School of Nursing's AAS Nursing Program Student Handbook has details about program requirements, policies, and procedures. Some information does not apply to the campus in Dillingham.
Instructional methods include distance delivered lectures by interactive video from instructors across the state including Fairbanks, Anchorage, Bethel, Sitka, and Kodiak. A local instructor will teach hands-on skills learning in the Nursing Lab and facilitate opportunities for clinical experience.
A minimum total credit hours for the AAS Nursing Degree is of 70 credit hours is required.
Interested individuals are encouraged to make an appointment with a Student Services advisor and/or the local Nursing faculty member.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay Campus partners with the University Of Alaska Anchorage School Of Nursing to make it possible for students in Dillingham to earn an AAS Degree in nursing.
This program is funded by contributions from partners including funding from Bristol Bay Economic Development Corporation, Denali Commission, Title III grant, the University of Alaska Anchorage and the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation has provided clinical sites for the students to gain experience in patient care.
