UAF uses badges for certain departments for identification. Please see below for departments and badge information.
To request a Facility Services badge, employees must complete the PolarExpress Badge Request form. Once the form is approved by the employee's supervisor, it will be processed by the Bursar's office, and the badge will be printed.
For replacement badge requests, the appropriate fund/organization must be specified on the form by either the employee or the approver, if the employee is not covering the replacement cost.

An account must be created in order to fill out and submit a form.
Contractors must include the company name they are working on campus for on the request form, a valid government-issued photo ID, and a photo for the badge. Please see the guildelines here for appropriate card photo requirements.
To request a firefighter badge, the individual must complete and submit PolarExpress Badge Request form. Once the form is approved by the individual's supervisor, it will be processed by the Bursar's office, and the badge will be printed.
Please note that uniforms must be worn in the ID photo for the badge.

Students enrolled in the firefighter program at UAF will be issued a student firefighter badge, which will serve as their official UAF identification for on-campus use. The issuance of regular student PolarExpress cards will be discontinued for these students. If the student leaves the program, the firefighter badge must be returned to the immediate supervisor and a request for a regular student PolarExpress card submitted.
The student firefighter badge will function as a comprehensive UAF identification card, providing access to buildings, facilitating purchases, and performing all functions of a regular PolarExpress card.
