2024 ASUAF Faculty of the Year
The Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks (ASUAF) are thrilled to announce that Kathy Kitts, a graduate student and TA in the UAF Department of English, has been honored with the 2024 ASUAF Faculty of the Year Award. Kathy’s exceptional teaching and heartfelt dedication to her students have earned her this prestigious recognition.
Kathy’s engaging English Composition classes have received glowing feedback, especially her WRTG F214X course, Arguing Across Contexts: Examining Sex, Gender, and Culture through Science Fiction. Students have praised the course for its insightful content and Kathy’s ability to make complex topics accessible and intriguing.
Kathy, who did not nominate herself and recused herself from the voting process, expressed gratitude for the award, stating, “I especially appreciate this honor because it comes from the students. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn allow me to do what I do. It’s easy to teach when you have great students.”
Beyond the classroom, Kathy has made significant contributions as an ASUAF senator, advocating passionately for graduate student issues. ASUAF extends its heartfelt congratulations to Kathy for this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to her continued contributions to UAF.
