Researchers: Apply for fieldwork photo opportunity

The R1 working group focused on recruiting Ph.D. students and promoting UAF research is looking for opportunities to capture professional photos of unique Alaska field work. UAF researchers who have field sites within 2-3 hours driving distance from Fairbanks can apply to have their research included. Learn more and apply.

Jim Myers, a professor of vegetable breeding and genetics at the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University, will lead three workshops on saving seeds and breeding plants. Learn more and register for a workshop.


Workshop: Authentic assessment and routines with WeVideo

Join us on Friday, Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to noon for training on WeVideo, a browser-based video editing tool accessible to all UAF affiliates. Zoom AI Companion features launch on Aug. 16; opt-in to use

The University of Alaska is excited to announce the upcoming launch of Zoom AI Companion's new features, set to go live on Aug. 16. This innovative tool is designed to further enhance meeting productivity and efficiency across the university. These features will be available on an opt-in basis, meaning they will not be automatically enabled for everyone. Learn more about the features and how to opt-in.

UAF researchers aim for quality, quantity in small grains project

Tuesday, Aug. 6, was harvest day for the small grains trials project on the Fairbanks Experiment Farm at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The combine harvester collected seeds from almost 80 varieties of barley, wheat and canola grown to find which varieties thrive in Fairbanks' short summer. Read more on the project.


Graduate teaching assistant orientation 

Join the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Graduate School for a two-part graduate teaching assistant orientation. The sessions will be held on Aug. 20 and Sept. 20, both in-person and via Zoom. Lunch will be provided at both sessions. Learn more and preregister.
