Expedited academic program review recommendations released
February 5, 2021
The Expedited Academic Program Review Committee released its recommendations earlier today. Of the 87 programs reviewed, 52 programs were recommended to continue without change. Seventeen were recommended for continuation with an improvement plan, 15 for restructuring/revising, and three were recommended for deletion.
You can read a summary of the report (PDF) or the full committee reports . The process, committees, timelines and documentation can be found on the expedited academic review website .
Our next steps are as follows. Committee recommendations are open for feedback from governance as well as the broader internal and external communities from Feb. 5-19. Feedback on the committee’s recommendations can be provided on this form. This feedback will be important as I decide on my list of preliminary recommendations that I will release on Feb. 22. I will then offer four additional days (Feb. 22-26) for feedback on my preliminary recommendations before I make final recommendations. My recommendations will go to President Pitney on March 1.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the review committees (PDF) for their hard work and diligence over the past several months. The committees were made up of faculty, staff, students and administrators and included members appointed by staff, student and faculty governance groups. I also want to thank the departments and programs that prepared materials for review.
I also want to bring to your attention that the expedited administrative management review is underway. This review is looking at administrative management positions across the university. It will complete in mid-March and I will announce decisions based on the recommendations on April 12.
In the coming days I will announce an open forum for anyone to provide input on the expedited academic program review.
We are a university because of the students, and the students attend UAF because we have great faculty, great staff, and great programs.
Thank you for what you do, and thanks for choosing UAF.
