Tech Tuesday: Zoom in the classroom

March 2, 2020

University Relations

Zoom is UAF’s new video conference platform, and is continuing to expand in classrooms across the Fairbanks campus.

"Zoom-enabled" rooms are those with new, in-room technology that allows you to log in to Zoom and host or join a meeting. In contrast, "Zoom-compatible" rooms have older technology that requires an extra step to join a Zoom meeting. Eventually all rooms will have the new Zoom technology.

The Zoom rooms above are scheduled through the Office of the Registrar . OIT will be upgrading more rooms for Zoom over the summer.

No room required. Zoom lets you host and join meetings from any device as long as you have adequate bandwidth. Chances are if you can watch a YouTube video without pauses or buffering you have enough bandwidth for Zoom.

New to Zoom? Visit OIT's Zoom service catalog page, which includes training, FAQ and other information.
