Music department to host scholarship donor recital

The UAF Music Department is putting on its scholarship donor recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10, in the Davis Concert Hall.

Initially planned for April 2020, the recital will pay homage and tribute to the benefactors and friends of the Music Department who have donated money and scholarships. All of the department’s students and faculty will be performing.

One piece, “Flying Free,” will be a collaborative performance between the String Ensemble and the Choir of the North. Another will be a commissioned piece from Emerson Eads, an alumnus of UAF, who wrote “Give Me Room” in honor of Steve Holmberg. Holmberg, a 1989 alumnus, endowed a position in the Music Department for a faculty member focused on voice and choir; this position is currently held by Professor Jaunelle Celaire.

The event will be live streamed via the Music Department’s YouTube channel, and can be viewed here. For more information, contact Celaire at jrcelaire@alaska.edu.
