Harmful Algal Bloom Toxins and Alaska's Seabirds

Thursday, April 30 | 6:30 pm | VIA ZOOM

During the last decade, seabird die-offs have increased in size and frequency as Alaskan ocean temperatures are rising.  Harmful algal blooms (HABs) intensify with warming conditions and can produce toxins (ex. Saxitoxin) that may affect seabird health.  Come hear the results of Sarah’s extensive work on saxitoxin in seabirds and forage fishes from several Alaskan HAB events and seabird die-offs - including samples from healthy seabirds!
