Capacity Projects

AFES is responsible for distributing federal funds designated through the Hatch Act of 1887 to support the capacity of our land-grant institution to enhance statewide research activities. Research funded by these capacity funds includes all aspects of agriculture, including soil and water resource conservation; plant and animal production, protection, and health; processing, distribution, safety, marketing, and utilization of food and agricultural products; forestry, range management and range products; multiple uses of public lands; urban forestry; home economics and family life; human nutrition; rural and community development, including tourism; sustainable agriculture; molecular biology; and biotechnology.
