Dr. Anthony Nakazawa
Professor of Extension, Emeritus
WHEREAS Dr. Anthony T. Nakazawa has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1980 to 2018; and
WHEREAS Dr. Nakazawa taught rural development courses and thoughtfully mentored graduate students, as well as skillfully teaching a wide variety of extension classes, including AlaskaHost training, Geotourism and curricula on other community development subjects; and
WHEREAS Dr. Nakazawa authored more than one hundred articles in professional journals, magazines, newspapers, websites and other media, which shared his extensive expertise on community and economic development and government with many audiences; and
WHEREAS Dr. Nakazawa made numerous valuable contributions to public service, including serving as a member of the Alaska Local Boundary Commission and the RurAL CAP Board of Directors and Executive Committee; and
WHEREAS Dr. Nakazawa was the Director of the Alaska Cooperative Extension Service from 1997 to 2007 and is remembered for the respect and support that he gave to the faculty and staff;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Anthony T. Nakazawa for his extensive contributions to the State of Alaska and to the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Nakazawa and as evidence of the University’s desire that his identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Dr. Anthony T. Nakazawa as Professor of Extension, Emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Anthony T. Nakazawa, and conveyed to Dr. Nakazawa on this 4th day of May, 2018.
