Dr. Terrance Quinn II
Professor of Fisheries, Emeritus
WHEREAS Dr. Terrance J. Quinn II has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1985 to 2017; and
WHEREAS Dr. Quinn founded the strong quantitative focus that distinguishes the Fisheries graduate program and expertly taught the core stock assessment courses that are its backbone; and
WHEREAS Dr. Quinn wisely mentored thirty-six graduate students, many of whom have risen to senior positions in state and federal agencies; and
WHEREAS Dr. Quinn has been a highly productive and influential researcher, having authored four books and more than one hundred peer-reviewed publications; and
WHEREAS Dr. Quinn has made important contributions to public service, including membership on the Ocean Studies Board of the National Research Council and more than thirty years as a member of the Statistical and Scientific Committee of the North Pacific Fishery Management Council; and
WHEREAS Dr. Quinn has earned several notable honors, including the Wallace H. Noerenberg Award for Fishery Excellence and the North Pacific Fisheries Management Council Award of Recognition and Appreciation, Celebrating 40 Years;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Terrance J. Quinn II for his extensive contributions to the State of Alaska and to the University; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Quinn and as evidence of the University’s desire that his identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Dr. Terrance J. Quinn II as Professor of Fisheries, Emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Terrance J. Quinn II, and conveyed to Dr. Quinn on this 4th day of May, 2018.
