Mr. Galen Johnson

Professor of Construction Management, Emeritus 

WHEREAS Mr. Galen Johnson has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching and service from 2006 to 2022; and

WHEREAS Mr. Johnson launched the Community and Technical College’s construction management program, and his teaching, informed by thirty years of experience in the industry, was given consistently high marks by his students; and

WHEREAS Mr. Johnson’s broad knowledge base and thoughtful approach placed him in high demand for substantive contributions across the university statewide, not only in curriculum development but also in oversight of facilities, and, while a faculty member, he continued his involvement in the industry through work as a part-time senior project manager and as a leader in state professional organizations; and

WHEREAS Mr. Johnson serves on the boards of the Greater Fairbanks Hospital Foundation and the Raven Landing retirement community, and he has volunteered with numerous other local organizations;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Mr. Galen Johnson for his extensive contributions to the state of Alaska and to the university; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Mr. Johnson and as evidence of the university’s desire that his identification with the university be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Mr. Galen Johnson as professor of construction management, emeritus; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Mr. Galen Johnson, and conveyed to Mr. Johnson on this twenty-ninth day of April, 2022.
