Ms. Kimberlee S. Davis

WHEREAS Ms. Kimberlee S. Davis has served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in public relations and fundraising from 1992 to 2023, including the past 15 years as managing editor of UAF’s Aurora magazine; and

WHEREAS Ms. Davis served the university in fast-paced and highly deadline-driven environments; and the outstanding quality of her work has demonstrated her commitment to the institution; and she has been a reliable organizing force behind numerous publications and events, including the annual commencement; and

WHEREAS Ms. Davis provided the vision and editorial acumen to resurrect and greatly enhance the Aurora magazine; and she provided guidance and oversight to writers, photographers, editors and designers, holding herself and those around her to high standards; and

WHEREAS Ms. Davis chaired the planning committee for UAF’s centennial in 2017, overseeing events and projects involving hundreds of participants across several years; and her vision and guidance brought the remarkable history of the first century of this university to life; and

WHEREAS the Alaska chapter of the Public Relations Society of America recognized Ms. Davis on multiple occasions with top awards for the projects she led, including the Aurora magazine;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Ms. Kimberlee S. Davis for her extensive contributions to the state of Alaska and to the university; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Ms. Davis and as evidence of the university’s desire that her identification with the university be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Ms. Kimberlee S. Davis as managing editor, emeritus; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Ms. Kimberlee S. Davis, and conveyed to Ms. Davis on this sixth day of May, 2023.
