Mrs. Dana Greci
Professor of Developmental English, Emeritus
WHEREAS Mrs. Dana Greci served the University of Alaska Fairbanks in teaching, research and service from 1992 to 2023; and
WHEREAS Mrs. Greci taught a dozen different writing and English courses; and her excellent teaching was recognized by student-led awards; and she strove to create a nurturing environment for students; and
WHEREAS Mrs. Greci conducted research into developmental reading and writing, part of which led to a paper that earned the National Organization for Student Success’ 2020 Outstanding Article of the Year award; and
WHEREAS Mrs. Greci led curriculum development, program review and a successful national accreditation effort for the Department of Developmental Education; and she served on the Faculty Senate and several of its committees; and she served as an accreditation reviewer for the National Organization for Student Success and as a book reviewer for the National Council for Teachers of English; and she volunteered as a Literacy Council of Alaska tutor and the Fairbanks Women’s Writing Group coordinator;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Mrs. Dana Greci for her extensive contributions to the state of Alaska and to the university; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Mrs. Greci and as evidence of the university’s desire that her identification with the university be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Mrs. Dana Greci as professor of developmental English, emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Mrs. Dana Greci, and conveyed to Mrs. Greci on this third day of May, 2024.
