The Alaska and Polar Regions Collections and Archives department at Elmer E. Rasmuson
Library at University of Alaska Fairbanks is holding an open house on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5-7 p.m. to showcase collections focused on community. This free event is open to the public.
The Large Animal Research Station will begin its winter tour season on Thursday, Oct.
24, and offer tours most Thursdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Dec. 19. All tickets

Pulitzer Prize winner Chris Mooney will explore how journalistic narratives work to
illuminate the problem of climate change and amplify concern about the state of the
planet. Come listen to his talk "Covering Climate Change: The Power of Story" on Thursday,
Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at the BP Design Theater in Room 401A of the Usibelli Building.
Tok-area residents can learn to preserve meat, fish and vegetables and make yogurt,
sausage and jerky in a series of workshops led by the University of Alaska Fairbanks
Cooperative Extension Service. Leslie Shallcross, a health, home and family development
agent in Fairbanks, will teach the classes at the Interior Alaska Campus Tok Center
